Reasons Why Your Amazon Product Is Not Ranking

Amazon sellers can add products to their store in a number of ways. However, sellers who are just starting out may have trouble optimizing their products’ ranking when they first launch. Several changes to product listings can help beginners get started on the right foot with their Amazon businesses.

You know that a good Amazon SEO strategy is the key to success in Amazon. You’ve watched a lot of videos and read a lot of articles, but you’re not sure where to begin. The experts all say something different! You want to start with the best strategies, so you don’t waste your time going in circles. And then… you don’t. And you can’t figure out why, despite a good product, a good launch, good photography, and good PPC.

If you want to see a change in rank with better sales, there are some things that you can do. These are only small changes, but they can make a big difference. Try implementing these into your business and see how it works for you.

Not enough images tell the story of your products.

The first thing you want customers to see on your Amazon product page is a high-quality product image. After all, that’s the only thing they have to go by when they are looking at your product description and your bullet points. Low-quality images can ruin your chances of increasing sales, as they can cause consumers to skip over your product page entirely. To prevent this from happening, make sure your images are eye-catching, original, and clear.

You can use images to answer any lingering questions that a customer may have about your product. While this may seem like common sense, many brands forget the power of simply showing their customers how to operate or use the product, also known as “Lifestyle Images”

Amazon customers are looking for reassurance that a product is safe to use. They want to know how easy it is to set up and use, and they want to know why their purchase is better than those of potential competitors. By answering these questions in a clear and concise manner, you can build trust with your audience and foster healthy long-lasting relationships.

You shouldn’t load your product images with text, as it throws off the balance of the image. Instead, include simple infographics or explanatory photography that shows the potential customer how to use or benefit from your product, rather than simply telling them.

You might also want to experiment with your first image, which is the main image that is displayed by default when a user searches for your product on Amazon. If you can get your first image to stand out, it will increase your chances of being found by more consumers, and stand out from your competitors.

You are in the wrong category.

It is essential to be in the correct browse node because it will help you determine what products you are competing against. It also allows you to see what keywords are being used, the relative importance of the product, and how close the automatically suggested keywords are to the ones that are optimal for your page.

With some products, it is easy to place them into a category. A shoe, for example, belongs in footwear. But with other products, there are multiple possibilities.

If you’ve ever felt like your product isn’t getting enough love from shoppers, it may be due to your products being incorrectly categorized. Take a look at the URL of your detail page without the canonical section of the link and see what category it falls under. This feature will automatically move browse nodes to the top of your main image for quick and easy access.

The Product Classifier allows you to specify your products’ category using the options available in Seller Central. The process is simple and straightforward.

You are using the wrong keywords for your product, brand, or category.

You can rank for any keyword, regardless of the category. The rule of thumb is that if the keyword has enough people searching for it and that it can lead to a successful conversion, then you can rank for it. As a result of this, it is advisable to use keywords that are specific to a category, as they have proven to have a stronger impact on impressions and click-through rates.

For example, “beach tent” or “camping tents” or “sunshade” would be the type of keywords you want to target. If you are in the Baby Category, you should be focusing on phrases such as “baby travel beds” or “baby popup tents”.

Your seller central isn’t set up properly and it’s affecting your sales.

The Keyword section is a vital part of the inventory management portion of your Amazon Seller Central interface. Here, you can input your title, bullets, and product description. While the Keyword section does not directly affect your product’s ranking position on Amazon (although it will affect how your product will be positioned against competitor products), it is extremely important for determining who your target audience will be.

The More Details section helps your product be seen more often on Amazon by allowing users of the retail platform to refine their search queries to find new products they may not have otherwise noticed.

If you want to learn more about the refinement funnel, simply check out an Amazon SERP. The left side of your screen will display several refinement options for any listing you might find.

Based on which category you are in, you are offered different fields for the Keyword section in Seller Central and these sections DO change, so you want to make sure you are always keeping updated on these changes.

For example, Amazon somewhat recently stripped many categories of Keyword sections but added 5 additional bullets on the front end. If you aren’t aware of these changes, this could be a reason you aren’t ranking as well as you would like to be.

Being successful on Amazon is not easy. You can’t just put up a store and wait for the customers to come. There are many details that need to be taken care of in order to make your life easier and more profitable. And the first step is to create an optimized listing, with great images which will help you sell your products in a faster, smoother way.

Pay attention to the small things. Make sure that you are constantly giving your customers the best service possible.
